CENTRAL COAST RUGBY UNION
PREVIEW
SATURDAY, 6th MAY, 2023
ROUND 4

The Match of the Day in Central Coast Rugby Union this coming Saturday sees the clash at The Haven Oval between home team Terrigal and visitors Warnervale. This should be a close struggle throughout. Terrigal are currently undefeated with two very big victories so will go into this match full of confidence. They have taken all before them so far this season. They had a wonderful last week against frontrunners the Razorbacks so will go into this week’s clash as favourites. However they are up against a team that are also undefeated. Warnervale are coming off the bye so will be ready to go. Warnervale have had two pleasing wins before the bye but this week will be a further test for them. They know they are up against the reigning Premiers and they also know Terrigal have shown great form in recent weeks and are also at home. However Warnervale coach Mat Piukala will have his troops primed for this match.

Gosford travel to Slade Park to take on home side The Lakes in what should be an enthralling encounter. Gosford are coming an extremely narrow win last Saturday when they kicked a winning penalty goal after fulltime. Gosford, like The Lakes, are still settling on their best combinations with many new faces in their respective squads. Both teams will improve as the season progresses. The Lakes have had three very close matches this year and have definitely been in the picture in all three contests. They will be most keen to get their first win of the season, especially being at home. It is very difficult to choose a winner in this clash and the match will go right down to the wire.

Woy Woy is at home to Avoca Beach at Woy Woy Oval in what is another match that will create huge interest. Avoca Beach is also undefeated this season and would like to remain like that after this game. However Woy Woy have been a real threat in all their matches this season. They have come so close to victory in each one of them. Being at home this coming Saturday will make them even more confident of getting that vital first win. They know they are up against a strong Avoca Beach team who have taken control in all their matches this year. So we have one team who has not lost a match this season up against another who have not had a win. However many pundits still think this match will be close. Woy Woy were so unlucky not to win last week and will be so keen to reverse their fortunes this coming Saturday. It will be an interesting day at Woy Woy Oval.

Lake Macquarie will host the Razorbacks at Walters Park, Boolaroo in a game which both teams will be most keen to win. Lake Macquarie will be excited to be back home this Saturday as they have had two tough trips away over the last two weekends. They will be pleased to be home and hopefully to strengthen up in this contest. However they meet a Razorbacks team who would not to be too happy about their loss last Saturday and will be most keen to hit back this Saturday. The Razorback Coaches, Nick Meyer and Clint Guyatt, will work hard this week to get their team ready for this match. The Razorbacks will be go into this clash as favourites but Lake Macquarie will be most keen to put in a good performance and they will hoping to cause an upset.

In President’s Cup, the Bay Rugby Club meets the Razorbacks at Boolaroo while Gosford/Kariong and Avoca Beach have the bye. Warnervale travel to The Haven Oval to meet Terrigal.

Saturday also sees the continuance of the Central Coast Women’s 10’s competition. There are three matches this coming Saturday – Warnervale travel to The Haven Oval to play Terrigal, The Lakes host the Razorbacks at home, and Woy Woy are at home to Avoca Beach at Woy Woy Oval.
