The 2022 Central Coast Rugby Union season is just on 2 months away. Things have been happening in the off season. Clubs, as well as the Zone, have been putting things in place to start preparing for the 2022 season. After the most disappointing end to the 2021 season, everybody is hoping that things can start well for the 2021 season. The last two years have been most dramatic during these very unusual times. The fact that last season was cancelled midway through the year still leaves a most disappointing feeling in the minds of all rugby players, supporters and administrators on the Central Coast.

ADMINISTRATION CHANGES : At last year’s CCRU Annual General Meeting, I stood down as President of the Zone after having held office for 16 years. Having also been on the CCRU Board for just on 30 years, the time was right for a change. Tod Wills has stepped up as President of the CCRU for 2022. Tod comes with a huge amount of experience, being involved with various clubs on the Central Coast, been a past Zone Coach, and a member of the CCRU Board for several years. He is supported by a full Board of Directors, and these people will insure that Central Coast Rugby continues in a very successful manner. Tod will be assisted in the Executive by Vice-President’s Kate Thomson and Owen Clark.

SEASON DRAW : The full season Draw is attached for your convenience. The season will commence on Saturday, 2nd April. The season will continue through to the Grand Final on the 17th September. Draw can be found HERE

SPONSORS : Swietelsky Rail Australia have continued their wonderful support of the Central Coast Rugby Union competition in 2022 by sponsoring this competition once again. Swietelsky came on board last year and were great supporters through what was a most difficult year The CCRU are most appreciative of their support again this year.

REPRESENTATIVE SEASON : things are currently being put in place for the representative season. The NSW Country Championships will be held once again in Tamworth over the June Long Weekend. Three teams will travel to Tamworth – the Senior 1st XV, the Under 19’s and the Women’s XV.
The coaches for these teams are as follows :
Seniors – Craig McWilliam, Murray Cox & Hoani Rimene, with Kyle Lanzini as Manager.
Colts – Nick Meyer, Justin Staben, Scott Hanley & Josh Harrod with Michael Middleton as Manager.
Women – Mick Burgess & Jacob Tumanako, with Pam Proctor as Manager.

“7’s BY THE SEA” : The Lakes Rugby Club is once again hosting the 7-a-side tournament at Slade Park on Saturday, 19th February. This event has now been going for many years, and is an event that sees most local teams in action for the first time in the year. The event is for both men’s and women’s 7-a-side teams.
