ROUND 12

The Swietelsky ‘Match of the Day’ will be at Ourimbah Rugby Park on Saturday when the Razorbacks will host The Lakes. This match holds much interest as both teams are playing excellent rugby. Both teams were victorious last Saturday and this shows they are in great form at present. Both teams have got better and better as the season has progressed. The Razorbacks will have the home ground advantage which is a huge plus but The Lakes are definitely used to playing away from home this year. It will be a hard fought contest throughout. The top 7 teams in this year’s Premier 1 competition are so bunched so every win is so important. This particularly applies this coming weekend for these two teams. Only 5 teams can make the Finals so teams must make every post a winner. Both teams like a free flowing style of rugby and this should be on evidence in this clash. We are now in the second half of the season so all matches are so important from now on.

An equally enthralling match will take place at Kariong Oval, where Kariong will play Avoca Beach. Kariong are coming off the bye so will be firing on all cylinders in this clash, and with home ground advantage, will have high expectations of victory. Both teams have played Terrigal in their last match - Kariong two weeks ago played out a 17 all draw, while last Saturday Avoca Beach went down to the Terrigal side at home. Based on this consideration, one would think Kariong would be favourites in this match. However this season things have been topsy turvy and it has been very difficult to choose a winner each Saturday. These two teams have been two of the form teams this year so the match will be close. Avoca Beach will be most keen to get quickly back into the winner’s circle after last weekend’s defeat.

Gosford travel to Pennant Hills Oval to take on Hornsby. Hornsby would be regarded as the favoured team to win this contest. Gosford have not played for several weeks because of byes and representative matches, so they will be most keen to have a run. Gosford will be freshened up and could surprise Hornsby in this clash. Hornsby desperately needs to win this clash as a loss would almost see their Finals hopes go by the board. So this is an important game of rugby – Hornsby to get a win to stay in touch with the leading teams and Gosford to continue building on their season so far.

This coming weekend The Bay Rugby Club meets Terrigal blue at The Haven Oval.

The Central Coast Women’s 10’s competition continues next Saturday with two matches. Kariong/Razorbacks will meet The Lakes at Ourimbah Rugby Park, while Avoca Beach will met Hornsby at Kariong Oval in what should be a thrilling contest.
