CENTRAL COAST RUGBY UNION
PREVIEW
SATURDAY, 18th JUNE, 2022
ROUND 10

The Swietelsky Central Coast Rugby Union season continues on Saturday with another round of interesting matches.

The ‘Match of the Day’ will be at The Haven Oval on Saturday when Terrigal will host Kariong. This match holds much interest as both teams are playing excellent rugby. Both teams will have players returning from the NSW Country Championships so some players may be a little bruised and sore for this match. This clash should be a beauty. Both teams are placed near the top of the competition ladder and both teams would regard themselves as Premiership candidates. Terrigal will have the vital home ground advantage but Kariong this season have travelled very well. Terrigal had a resounding win last week against Warnervale and would be most keen to maintain that form. This is an interesting match which will be tight for the entire 80 minutes,

Hornsby will host Warnervale at Pennant Hills Oval No.1 next weekend. Both these teams are desperate for a win. Both were defeated in their last round and will be most keen to get quickly back into the winner’s circle. This will be another very close struggle. Like the match above, both teams had players involved in the NSW Country Championships last weekend. Hornsby have the home ground advantage, which is a huge plus. Warnervale suffered a big loss two weeks ago and will be most keen to get the win and to get that loss out of their minds.

Gosford travel to Slade Park on Saturday to take on The Lakes. The home side are travelling very well at present and will go into this match as clear favourites. Gosford have had their ups and downs this season in terms of results, but are still a team that the opposition have to respect. The Lakes however hit good form 2 weeks ago with their win against Hornsby and will be most keen to keep that form going on Saturday.

Unfortunately, Woy Woy Rugby Club have withdrawn from the Premier 1 competition for the remainder of the year. They will play lower grades only. This has come about due to player numbers. So, the Razorbacks have the bye this coming Saturday.

This coming weekend The Bay Rugby Club will travel to Heazlett Park to meet Avoca Beach in a President’s Cup encounter.

The Central Coast Women’s 10’s competition continues next Saturday. Saturday will see all teams involved in the action - Terrigal will host Kariong/Razorbacks, Hornsby will meet Warnervale at home, and The Lakes and Avoca Beach meet at Slade Park.
