The Swietelsky Premier 1 season continues next Saturday with some interesting clashes. The competition itself is proving quite even with recent matches showing that there will be several upsets in coming weeks.

The Match of the Day is the seaside derby at Heazlett Park between Avoca Beach and Terrigal. This will be a classic encounter. Both teams have won their recent matches but Terrigal are coming off a fortnight of byes and it will be interesting to see how they have come out of that. Until the byes, Terrigal had recorded two very pleasing victories which should hold them in good stead. Terrigal will definitely be freshened up with the break and will be fully prepared for this clash. Avoca Beach are coming off a great result last weekend. They recorded a morale boosting victory over the Razorbacks and this win certainly placed Avoca Beach as one of the numerous Premiership threats in this year’s competition. It all makes for a wonderful game of rugby in Saturday. These two teams always have an intense rivalry but the recent form of both these two teams will make this battle all the more hectic. The match should attract a huge crowd on Saturday and the result will tell us much about the prospects of both teams for the remainder of the 2021 season. It is very difficult to choose aa winner in this clash with both displaying good recent form. Avoca Beach are playing well and are at home but the experience of Terrigal may see them sneak home.

Hornsby will host the Razorbacks at Mark Taylor Oval in another clash which will also be another great match next Saturday. These two teams had a draw and a loss respectively last week so will be desperate to quickly get back onto the winning track. Both teams played quite well last Saturday but just did not get the win. They will be hoping to go one step further in this particular battle. Both teams were Finalists last year and both will be most keen to reach the Finals again this year. This game will be an indicator on whether these two teams are going to get there. The Razorbacks are certainly a Premiership threat while Hornsby showed last Saturday that they will be close to the action around Finals time. Hornsby have had a change in coaching staff in recent weeks and newly appointed coach Tristan Jones will have his team fully prepared for this clash on Saturday. Razorbacks would probably be favoured to win this match based on their form before last week, but this match will go right down to the wire.

The Lakes will travel to Woongarrah Oval to play Warnervale in what is another local derby next Saturday, and in what should prove an interesting matchup. This match will be close. The Lakes certainly hit the correct form last weekend when they piled on the points against Woy Woy. Up until then, The Lakes had really struggled with their form but their 2020 form came to the fore in that match. That form would make The Lakes favourites to win this local derby. However, Warnervale know how important this match is in terms of their 2021 season. They know they must get their first win of the season soon and will see this clash as a great chance to do that. Warnervale is at home and this is a real plus for the them but they know they must play well if they are to get the win next Saturday against The Lakes.

The Bay will travel to Kariong Oval this Saturday to play Kariong in the President’s Cup clash. This should prove a close tussle and The Bay will be hoping to get their first win of the season.

Woy Woy and Kariong have byes in Premier 1 and 2 this Saturday.

Saturday also sees the continuance of the Central Coast Women’s 10’s competition. This weekend will see the clubs continue with 10-a-side rugby and there will three (3) exciting matches across the Coast this Saturday. The Razorbacks will play Hornsby, Terrigal will meet Avoca Beach and Warnervale will meet The Lakes. All matches should prove close and hard fought. Terrigal in particular will be most keen to get back on the paddock after a few weeks off but they face a team in Avoca Beach who are in great form.
