WOY WOY OVAL
The Premier 1 Preliminary Final for 2020 will see Ourimbah taking on The Lakes at Woy Woy Oval in what should prove an enthralling clash. These two teams are fighting for the right to take on Terrigal in the 2020 Grand Final. There has been absolutely nothing between these two teams all year. They have played each other twice, with a draw during the season and with a win to The Lakes two weeks ago in the first week of the Finals. However Ourimbah all but took that match in the dying stages. This will be another hard fought and tight encounter. They both have so much to play for. Both will be keen to be at Central Coast Stadium the following Saturday and for a chance to take this year’s Premiership. Both teams have very good forward packs and with backlines that can score from anywhere on the paddock. Both teams have had two very tough games in the last fortnight so a lot will depend on who is fit and ready to go. Ourimbah have had such slow starts in the last two weeks. They failed to overhaul The Lakes two weeks ago and last Saturday did successfully chase down Hornsby in what proved a cliff-hanger. They will be most keen to avoid that situation again. Both clubs have had really good seasons and both will keen to go one more week. Both coaches, Marshall Hemopo from The Lakes and Matt Hopkins from Ourimbah, will both have their teams fully prepared for this sudden death match, and they will have made all the right preparations in readiness for this important clash. This is a difficult match in which to choose a victor and extra time would not surprise.
The Premier 2 Preliminary Final is between Terrigal and Avoca Beach. This will be an exciting clash on Saturday. These two teams will be evenly matched so this will be another tough and closely contested match. These two teams really do enjoy playing each other and also defeating each other. The two teams met in the last round of the competition and in that particular match Terrigal ran out winners by 27 points to 11 but Finals rugby is a whole new ball game. Terrigal were frustrated in their loss to The Lakes last Saturday and would very much like to take them on again. But they first must overcome an Avoca Beach team that showed great form in their Minor Semi-final win two weeks ago. This is another very hard match in which to choose a winner.
The President’s Cup Preliminary Final sees Terrigal meeting The Lakes. It is a big day for The Lakes with four of their senior teams playing on the one day. There will not be too much between these two sides this coming weekend. The President’s Cup competition this year has been a close one and has seen rugby played at a pleasing level. Terrigal defeated The Lakes in their round game mid season by 26 points to 7 so they will go into this clash full of confidence. The Preliminary Final match on Saturday will be a good standard match and should be close.
The Under 19 Colts Preliminary Final sees The Lakes Maroon team up against The Lakes Yellow. These two teams have been performing so strongly in the competition recently and have recorded some excellent wins. The Lakes Maroon squad is a big team and can put teams under pressure quickly. They will be very keen to quickly forget last week’s effort and will be most keen to defeat the other The Lakes team on Saturday.
Women’s 10’s on Saturday will see the Preliminary Final between Hornsby and Avoca Beach to see who has the right to proceed to the Grand Final. Hornsby will be that much stronger with the run last week but they meet an Avoca Beach team who can very dangerous on their day. Hornsby defeated Avoca beach by 29 points to 15 in their round clash earlier in the year but most people would feel that this match will be much closer.
