ROUND 4

CCRU

The Match of the Day in Round 4 will be the tussle at Ourimbah Rugby Park between Ourimbah and Avoca Beach. This match should prove a classic encounter. Ourimbah have won both their matches this year while Avoca Beach are yet to record their first victory. However Avoca Beach has only had the one match so far this year so will be most keen to get onto the paddock next Saturday. Avoca Beach lost their only game by the single point and that result proved that this match will be a close one. Ourimbah displayed some good form last Saturday against Gosford and they know how to score tries. They finished that match strongly so they know they can play out the full 80 minutes. Ourimbah have a very solid team – they have both youth and experience in their pack of forwards with players like Brett Cunningham and Rob Peden, and they have a backline that is playing well as a unit at present. Avoca Beach have great depth this year, and their coaching staff there will be keen to have all their players having a run this coming Saturday. It is difficult to predict a winner in this match as Avoca Beach has only played the one match. The home ground advantage for Ourimbah may be the only difference in this clash.

Kariong are at home at Kariong Oval when they clash with Warnervale next Saturday. These two teams are coming off a loss last weekend so both will be keen to get into the winner’s circle this coming Saturday. Kariong went so close against Woy Woy last week while Warnervale fought all the way in their loss to Hornsby last weekend. This match will be very evenly fought. They have very similar team structures and both teams may find it difficult to cross the try line on Saturday. Warnervale may go into the game as very slight favourites but Kariong at home and, being a team desperate to get their first win, could very easily get the money in this match.

Woy Woy travel to Slade Park to meet The Lakes. Woy Woy go into the match with a vital win under their belts from last Saturday so will be most keen to keep those wins coming. However they meet The Lakes team who are always stronger at home, who are playing some pleasing rugby, and who would still be smarting after their loss last Saturday against Terrigal. The Lakes will go into this clash as favourites but Woy Woy showed last week they have the desire and the players to get a win in this match.

Hornsby returns to their home base on Saturday at Mark Taylor Oval when they take on Gosford. Hornsby have had their best start to the season in the Central Coast competition and will be most keen to keep it going. They are playing well and are playing out the full 80 minutes. Hornsby know they will have to be careful in this match because Gosford, although not having recorded a win yet, have troubled all teams they have played. Gosford need to go the 80 minutes if they are to have any chance of getting that win. Gosford have had a tough start to the season , having met Terrigal and Ourimbah but will find Hornsby no easier. Hornsby have strength right across the park and are playing a far more structured game this year.

Women’s 10’s rugby sees another two interesting games next Saturday. Avoca Beach play their first game of the season and will so keen to get onto the paddock. Ourimbah have met them at a bad time because of this. Kariong will host Warnervale vale in a match that will be very close throughout.
