CENTRAL COAST RUGBY UNION

NSW COUNTRY RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIPS

NSW COUNTRY RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIPS
TAMWORTH
SATURDAY, 12th JUNE and
SUNDAY, 13th JUNE

Central Coast Rugby Union will be sending three (3) teams to the NSW Country Championships in Tamworth over the June Long Weekend. These teams have all been preparing since February this year. They have trained each week and are primed for good performances at Tamworth.

The Senior 1st XV will be coached by Craig McWilliam and his team. The squad contains a cross section of players from the Central Coast teams, but with a predominance of players from Terrigal and the Razorbacks. The team has been unable to organise any trial matches in preparation for the weekend, but they have trained hard in the leadup to the Championships. The team will be competing in the top tier Caldwell Cup so it will be hard and committed rugby all weekend.

The Colts (Under 19’s) will be coached by Nick Meyer and his coaching staff. Meyer has been involved with this team for several years and knows what is expected from the team at these Championships. The team did play a trial against Hunter Newcastle this week and that was a pleasing preparation for the matches over the June Long Weekend.

The Women’s 15’s team are excited about competing at this year’s NSW Country Championships. With the local women’s rugby a 10-a-side competition, the players have been learning to adapt to the 15-A-side format. Coach Michael Burgess and his team have put a huge amount of work into preparing the team for Tamworth.
