CENTRAL COAST RUGBY UNION
PREVIEW
SATURDAY, 1st JULY, 2023

ROUND 11
The Central Coast Rugby Union season continues this coming Saturday. Teams will be attempting to get themselves into the semi-finals in matches in the coming weeks

The Match of the Day in Central Coast Rugby Union is between Terrigal and the Razorbacks at The Haven Oval. This should be a classic game of rugby. Both teams are located near the top of the competition table and they will be keen to stay there. Terrigal will go into the clash as slight favourites due to the home ground advantage but the match should be very close. Terrigal are coming off the bye which was probably needed after coming off a few tough weeks especially for their representative players. They lost their match before that bye so will be most keen to get quickly back to their winning ways with this match on Saturday. They shook the Razorbacks in their first round clash but many think this match will be much closer. The Razorbacks have had a few good weeks with some good wins and they will be most keen to reverse the results in this match from what happened in the first round clash. It all makes for an exciting game of rugby this coming weekend.

The Lakes will host Hornsby at Slade Park and both these teams are desperate for a win. This match may be their last throw of the dice. A win will get them still a chance to make the Finals but a loss more than likely will see them as goners in terms of the Finals. However a lot can happen with almost half the season to go. Both teams lost last week. Hornsby lost a tough match against Gosford but they showed form enough in that clash that should worry The Lakes. The Lakes lost to the undefeated Avoca Beach last week and will be most keen to get that wining feeling back. Hornsby won this clash in the first round in a close one so The Lakes will love to reverse that result this Saturday.

Woy Woy will welcome Gosford to Woy Woy Oval in another interesting clash. Woy Woy will be keen to get back home after a couple of weeks on the road and that home ground advantage may assist them in this match. Gosford had a good win last week but the matches between these two clubs are always hard fought. Gosford will go in the match as favourites but they will not underestimate Woy Woy at home.

Avoca Beach will travel to Walters Park, Boolaroo to meet home team Lake Macquarie. Avoca Beach will more than likely maintain their unbeaten run this season in this match. Lake Macquarie did finish quite well last Saturday with three late tries and they would be most keen to carry that form into this match. They will find it most difficult as they are up against the team leading the competition at present.

In President’s Cup, Terrigal will meet the Razorbacks at The Haven, and Gosford/Kariong will play Warnervale at Woy Woy Oval.

Saturday also sees the continuance of the Central Coast Women’s 10’s competition. There are three exciting matches this coming Saturday – the Razorbacks travel to The Haven Oval to play Terrigal, Avoca Beach will meet Warnervale at Walters Park, and The Lakes clash with Hornsby at home at Slade Park.
