The second half of the Central Coast Rugby Union season commences this coming Saturday. Teams will be attempting to get themselves into the semi-finals over the next nine rounds.

The Match of the Day in Central Coast Rugby Union will see Gosford hosting Hornsby at Gosford Rugby Field. Gosford are currently sitting in 4 th position on the competition ladder and they know a win on Saturday will put that little bit of difference on the points table between them and Hornsby. Hornsby are positioned in 6 th spot on the ladder and know that have to win matches like this if they are to make the Finals this year. It all makes for a most interesting game of rugby. Gosford do have that vital home ground advantage, and they also showed with their win last Saturday, that they are in the right type of form. Hornsby also clicked into form last Saturday with probably their best win of the season when that accounted for Woy Woy. Gosford just won this clash in Round 1 in a tight one and this rematch should prove to be a similar type game of rugby contest this coming Saturday.

The Lakes will travel to Heazlett Park to take on home team Avoca Beach. This is such a crucial match, especially for The Lakes. The Lakes need to get some upset results in the coming weeks if they are to give themselves a chance to make the semi- finals this year. However, they are up against the only undefeated team in the competition in Avoca Beach. So, it will be a most difficult task for the visitors on Saturday. The Lakes know they can do it but they will have to play consistent and effective rugby for the entire 80 minutes. Avoca Beach are always very strong at home as they showed last week in their great win over arch rivals Terrigal. They will go into the clash as firm favourites but The Lakes will have something to say about that.

Woy Woy will travel to Ourimbah Rugby Park to take on the Razorbacks. This is an equally exciting and important contest. The Razorbacks are coming off a great win last Saturday so they are in the right form. Woy Woy would not be happy with the result last Saturday when they went down to Hornsby but their first half performance in that match showed they can be a threat. They will need to play out the full 80 minutes. The Razorbacks are striking some good form. They had a good win over Warnervale last Saturday and their draw with the undefeated Avoca Beach in the previous form showed they are a definite Premierships threat this year.

Warnervale and Lake Macquarie meet at Woongarrah Oval on Saturday. These two neighbouring clubs will be fully prepared for this clash. Warnervale are desperate to get a win and they should do so this weekend. They are playing quite good rugby but in recent weeks have had several close losses. They are in 5 th spot on the competition ladder and want to stay there or even hopefully move up the table. Lake Macquarie are still seeking their first victory of the season and one cannot see it happening in this match. Warnervale are at home and they are so much stronger when at home.

In President’s Cup, Terrigal will meet Gosford/Kariong at the Showground, the Razorbacks will take on Avoca Beach at home, and Warnervale will meet The Bay at Woongarrah Sports Field.

Saturday also sees the continuance of the Central Coast Women’s 10’s competition. There are three exciting matches this coming Saturday – the Razorbacks will host the improving Woy Woy at Ourimbah Rugby Park, Hornsby travel to Gosford Rugby Field to play Terrigal, and Avoca Beach will host The Lakes at home.
