CENTRAL COAST RUGBY UNION
PREVIEW
SATURDAY, 17 th JUNE, 2023

ROUND 9
The Match of the Day in Central Coast Rugby Union will see Avoca Beach hosting Terrigal at Heazlett Park. This match up is always a highlight match in the Central Coast Rugby Union season but this contest has an extra excitement associated with it. These two teams are at the top of the competition ladder but are also undefeated. Terrigal have won all their matches this season and all of them have been with much ease. Avoca Beach had a draw in their last contest with the Razorbacks but before that had won all their earlier fixtures. So, this comes down to a mighty clash and this seaside derby will tell us a lot about the future Premiership prospects of both teams. Many of the players were involved in the NSW Country Championships last weekend so they will be a little sore for this clash. However, they will all lift for this very important and special clash. Th match should attract a huge crowd to Heazlett Park on Saturday and the result will be looked forward to by many local rugby supporters.

Warnervale will travel to Ourimbah Rugby Park to take on the Razorbacks. This is an equally exciting and important contest. The Razorbacks are coming off a draw with Avoca Beach and Warnervale are coming off a loss to Cosford. So, both teams will be desperate to quickly get back to their winning ways and they both will feel a victory is essential this coming weekend. Like the match above, both teams had many players involved in the Central Coast team at Tamworth last weekend so the result could depend on who came through that tough weekend and who can contribute for their club this coming Saturday. It all makes for a most exciting game of rugby at Ourimbah. The Razorbacks have that vital home ground advantage and that may be the only factor to divide the two teams at the end of the day.

Hornsby will take on Woy Woy at Mark Taylor Oval on Saturday. This battle of the Lions will be a most interesting game of rugby. Both will be desperate for a win. Both teams need the win so they can make an impact on the competition ladder. It will be a close tussle from start to finish and much will depend on what players take the paddock on Saturday. Hornsby are at home and this is definitely a plus for them. Woy Woy have not played for two weeks because of a bye and then the NSW Country Championships, so they will be ready to go in this match.

Gosford will host Lake Macquarie at Gosford Rugby Field at the Showground next Saturday. Gosford will go into this clash as favourites but they will take nothing for granted. Gosford are coming off a very tight victory in their last outing when they defeated Warnervale and will be most keen to maintain the rage this coming Saturday. Lake Macquarie know they are in for a battle but they will be trying to improve on their recent performances.

In President’s Cup, Terrigal will meet Avoca Beach at Heazlett Park, while the Razorbacks will take on Warnervale at home.

Saturday also sees the continuance of the Central Coast Women’s 10’s competition. There are three exciting matches this coming Saturday – the Razorbacks will host Warnervale at Ourimbah Ruby Park, Hornsby meets Woy Woy at Mark Taylor Oval, and Avoca Beach will take on Terrigal at home. The latter clash will see which team goes to the top of the competition ladder - they are currently locked together at the top of the table so this is such an important clash.
