Central Coast suffered losses to Riverina in both the McDonalds Country Cricket NSW Bradman Cup and Female Under 19’s Championships.

Central Coast opened their Under 19 Female Country Championship campaign with a 63 run loss to Riverina at Raymond Terrace.

Overnight and early morning rain saw the match move to a synthetic pitch.

Riverina won the toss and batted and they started well reaching 3/82 in the 40 over match before Central Coast hit back taking the last seven wickets for just 21 runs to see Riverina dismissed for 103 in the 37th over. The total was greater than it seemed due to the very slow outfield which saw just one boundary hit. Sophie Shelley and Piper Hooke did an excellent job with the new ball taking 3/17 and 2/12 respectively whilst Emily Humphreys took 2/25 with her off spinners.

Taking to the crease the Central Coast struggled to handle the excellent swing bowling from the Riverina new ball bowlers and slumped to 5/7 before being eventually dismissed for 40 in the 27th over. Molly Kidd topscored with 10.

The championships move into T20 mode tomorrow with the Central Coast playing Newcastle in the morning and Greater Illawarra in the afternoon.
