Cricket NSW to Introduce Female Plan B Regional Bash in 2019/20
Female Cricketers on the Central Coast will get the opportunity to emulate their male counterparts following the announcement that Cricket NSW will be an introducing a Women's Plan B Regional Bash competition in 2019/20.
Central Coast were victors of the Male Plan B Regional Bash last season.
In a major boost for female cricketers in regional and country areas, the knockout competition will involve teams from all of the eight zones.
In a further boost the finals, consisting of all four winners from round one of the competition, will be played at the SCG.
Whilst dates, fixtures and rules for the competition are yet to be finalised it is anticipated that to be eligible to participate in this competition, a player would need to be registered and play in a competition within their Zone.
Garry Burkinshaw (Conference Administrator – Central Coast) is excited for what this competition offers for female cricketers on the Central Coast;
“This competition is a fantastic opportunity for female cricketers not only on the Central Coast but also across the State” Burkinshaw said.
“It is exciting that players from our local competitions will get the opportunity to not only represent the Central Coast but hopefully also get to play on the SCG” he added.
“Female cricket continues to flourish on the Central Coast with the Ladies T20 competition consisting of 8 teams last year with more expected next season and also in 2019/20 the CCCA will be introducing their inaugural female Under 16’s competition to be played on Saturday morning”.
The CCCA will be holding an information night in early August where they will outline the details on what is available for female cricket, both senior and junior at a local and representative level for the 2019/20 season.
