Burkinshaw Appointed to Administrator Role

Cricket NSW have appointed highly regarded Sports Administrator, Garry Burkinshaw in the newly formed Conference Administrator role for the Central Coast.

The role has been designed to provide administrative assistance and support to the Central Coast Cricket Association (CCCA) Board, who under the guidance of Chairman, Paul Deaves have introduced significant changes over the past couple of years to grow the game in the Central Coast region.

Burkinshaw, well known within the Central Coast cricket community, having previously held positions on the CCCA including Zone Administrator and brings a wealth of experience to the role as a player, coach, selector and administrator over many years. He also has a wonderful background in Sports Management having been involved as the General Manager of Black Diamond AFL, Football Operations Manager for AFL Sydney and for the last six years as the Football Operations Manager of the Black Diamond AFL.

Cricket NSW Development Leader Greater Hunter, Neil McDonald is pleased with the appointment of Burkinshaw:

“ Garry has a strong background in sports administration and also a thorough knowledge of Central Coast Cricket which will be of great benefit” McDonald said.

“The Central Coast has one of the best platforms to grow the game - aligned club structures, Entry Level programs and Junior Formats embedded, developing girls and social women’s competitions, facility development opportunities and population growth and we’re confident that the CCCA Board decision to adopt conference administration will result in outstanding outcomes being achieved for all on the Central Coast and Greater Hunter” he added.

Deaves was equally as enthusiastic about the appointment

“ To have someone like Garry who is well versed in the local cricket environment, appointed to this role will provide great support to the Board” Deaves said.

“ The Board have a vision for cricket in the region and have made some tough decisions in recent years to support this vision. We are confident that Garry’s appointment will enable the Board to introduce additional strategies to support both the Central Coast and Cricket NSW’s goals.” Deaves added.

Burkinshaw’s appointment follows that of Community Cricket Central Coast Manager David Winiata, who recently took over from Michael Peacock, to support clubs to grow participation, develop facilities and grow Cricket’s footprint through the wider community. Cricket NSW Central Coast will also have a new office based at the Office of Sport, Ourimbah Campus.
