CCCA

Day 2 of Round 13 of the CCCA 1st Grade competition will be played on Saturday.

Preview

A number of clubs still have plenty of work to do as Round 13 concludes on Saturday.

Terrigal Avoca batsmen will need to be at their best if they are to chase down Northern Power’s total of 229 at Duffy’s Rd.

Currently sitting in 9th position on the table the Bellbirds can ill afford to drop this match which places extra pressure on their key batsmen in Ryan & Kyle James, Lloyd Radcliffe and the Bowring brothers.

Their task will not be made easier by the return of NSW Country spinner Chris Archer who will no doubt bowl plenty of overs along with the reliable Dave Molan.

Lisarow Ourimbah will be looking to their own returning NSW Country bowlers in Scott Burkinshaw and Blair Lindsay to make early inroads into Brisbane Waters batting line up at Adcock Park.

Brisbane Water still require 67 runs for victory but know one good partnership should be enough to get them over the line. Jordan Vilensky looked good last week and will resume on 26 with Shaun Hill, with star all-rounder Ben Sunshine still to bat.

After claiming 1st innings points last week, Wyong will be looking to build a sizeable lead before no doubt attempting to get an outright win over ladder leaders The Entrance.

The Entrance will welcome back Adam Taylor however the position of the game may prevent him from having too great an impact. Wyong will be missing their captain in Hayden Murphy.

Kincumber Avoca will need to take early wickets if they are to have any chance of preventing Warnervale from taking the points at Erina Oval.

The Wildcats need just 32 runs to take the points and still have six wickets in hand including Kane Harmsworth who is yet to bat. Jack Heuston bowled with plenty of pace last week and he could be a key player early on for the Griffens.

In the final game Narara-Wyoming will be looking for maximum points when play resumes against Southern Spirit at Col Gooley Oval.

The Lions lead by two runs with 7 wickets in hand and will be looking for early runs before sending Southern Spirit into bat again. Peter Cross will no doubt continue his aggressive approach which yielded him 59 not out off 43 balls last week.

The Spirit batted for 70 overs last week and another dogged batting effort will be required to avoid an outright defeat. Spinner James Smith will be the key for Narara-Wyoming after taking five wickets in the first innings last week.
