Central Coast Cricket selectors have named a new look opens representative side to compete in the Northern Pool of the McDonald’s NSW Country Championships which will be played this weekend in Inverell.

The squad to be captained by former NSW Country Captain, Peter Gallichan, includes a number of teenagers namely last years Grand Final Man of the Match, Broc Hardy as well as Jack Heuston and Kobe Allison, all of whom will be making their representative debuts along with Brisbane Water captain, Ben Cohen. The selectors have also recalled experienced Kincumber-Avoca skipper, Steve McCabe to bolster the batting.

Whilst there is an number of new faces coach, Glenn Rowlands will be looking to his experienced campaigners in Gallichan, Adam Taylor, Blair Linday, Chris Archer and Scott Burkinshaw to lead the way, as Central Coast look to win their third consecutive Northern Pool carnival.

Central Coast are drawn to play Central Northern on Friday, Western on Saturday before finishing the carnival on Sunday by playing North Coastal, who will be captain by former Narara-Wyoming player, Richie Gallichan (Peter’s brother) and include former Central Coast representative, Justin Moore. All matches are 50 overs per side.

The winner of this carnival will play the winner of the Southern Pool in the final on November 25.

Central Coast has made the final of the McDonald’s Country Championships the past two years however finished runner up on both occasions, to Western in 2016/17 and Newcastle last year.

The squad will have their final training session tonight at Taylor Park commencing at 5pm before travelling to Inverell on Thursday.
