The Central Coast will be looking to claim their first McDonalds NSW Country Championship title at Wollongong this Sunday and continue to magnificent season the Central Coast have had in Representative Cricket which has already seen them crowned NSW Country Champions at Plan B Regional Bash (T20), Under 18’s (Colts), Under 16’s (Bradman Cup) and Under 14’s (Kookaburra Cup).

Having been defeated in the past two Country Championship Finals (Western Zone 2016/17 and Newcastle last year) the Central Coast will be looking to make it third time lucky and claim the trophy that has so far eluded them

Their opponents on Sunday will be the newly formed ACT Southern Districts Zone, who won the Southern Pool Championships without dropping a game.

In the Northern Pool Carnival, The Central Coast recovered from a first round loss to Central Northern to claim a finals berth with a convincing win over North Coastal on the final day.

The Central Coast skipper, Peter Gallichan has a simple recipe for success and that being all players making a contribution whether it be with bat, ball or in the field, they achieved this in Inverell with three good performances with the bat, led by Steve McCabe, Tony Cornwall, Adam Taylor and Hayden Murphy. The bowling was led by left arm spinners Chris Archer, Blair Lindsay and Adam Taylor all who strangled the opposition through the middle of their innings, their performances led them to all gaining selection in the NSW Country side alongside quick Scott Burkinshaw whose pace and variation was vital in the death overs. The third and probable the most unheralded art in fielding and despite a couple of dropped catches the Central Coast were superb, no more so than Broc Hardy who pulled off two brilliant runouts in the final game.

The Central Coast have kept the same side that won the Plan B Regional Bash final on Tuesday (see attached).

The match on Sunday at North Dalton Park is 50 overs a side commencing at 10am, and if you can’t make it to the ground you can follow the scores live at
