W-League: Glory still unbeaten in six after five goal thriller

Perth Glory scored twice in the final 10 minutes to secure a crucial 3-2 win over Melbourne Victory at Dorrien Gardens on Sunday – and a place in next month’s Westfield W-League finals series.

Despite taking the lead in the 50th minute when skipper Sam Kerr headed home her ninth goal of the season, Glory conceded two own goals within eight minutes to give Victory the advantage on the scoreboard.

Victory looked set to claim a second major scalp in as many weeks, having stunned Brisbane Roar 4-1 last Monday, after consecutive deflections off Arianna Romero and Alyssa Mautz in the 52nd and 60th minutes respectively.

Falling behind sparked Glory into action in front of the boisterous 578-strong crowd and the team was eventually rewarded when Kerr was brought down inside the penalty box in the 80th minute.

W LEAGUE: Kerr strikes again as Glory stay unbeaten in five

Perth Glory’s unbeaten run has extended to five matches after a tight 1-1 draw with Newcastle Jets at Dorrien Gardens on Monday.

A brilliant solo effort from Perth skipper Samantha Kerr in the 69th minute cancelled out an earlier goal from Jets attacker Jenna Kingsley just after half-time.

Glory sits second on the Westfield W-League table on 17 points, just one behind leaders Sydney FC, after eight rounds.

Taggart strike sends Glory to fifth to kick off 2017

Perth Glory has kicked off the New Year with an encouraging 1-1 draw away at ANZ Stadium against the Western Sydney Wanderers.

Adam Taggart was the hero for the Western Australians in the 14th minute after some neat link-up play with winger and man-of-the-match Chris Harold. Taggart broke free and burst down the flank to rifle his shot past Wanderers ‘keeper Jerrad Tyson into the back of the net.
