Media release and team list for Central Coast Cricket’s representation at the Bradman Cup, getting underway this weekend in Kempsey.

BRADMAN CUP CAMPAIGN
GETS UNDERWAY

1 December 2022
Central Coast will begin their Bradman Cup campaign when they travel to Kempsey this weekend.

The Bradman Cup is the prestigious McDonalds Country Cricket NSW Under 16’s competition consisting of all seven (7) NSW Country Zones plus ACT.

The Central Coast have an excellent record in this competition having won the title on a record eight (8) occasions in the competitions 29 year history with their last success coming in 2018/19.

This year’s squad has had an excellent preparation reaching the Metro Youth League Watson Shield finals.

The side will be led by Kobi Goldie and will be looking to the likes of Jaylen Johnston, Zak Graham, Lewis Gifford-Cock and Cameron Wehrle to lead the way.

The Bradman Cup will be played in two stages with Stage 1 having the Central Coast playing Central North and Newcastle in T20 matches and North Coastal in a 50 over match in Kempsey on Saturday and Sunday with Stage 2 to be played in Lake Macquarie from 3-6 January where the Central Coast will play the other four Zones in 50 over matches.

CENTRAL COAST LOOKING FOR SOME BIG WINS AT THE McDONALD’S COUNTRY CRICKET NSW COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

22 November 2022

The Central Coast will travel to Orange this weekend to participate in the Southern Pool of the McDonalds Country Cricket NSW Country Championships.

Central Coast, to be captained by Broc Hardy, will take on Western Zone, Riverina and ACT in three 50 over matches, which commence on Friday.

Central Coast Chairman of Selectors, Trevor Allison likes the sides chances.

“We have picked a well-balanced team which we believe will be very competitive at the Championships,” Allison said.

“Those players selected have shown good form in the early parts of the season and hopefully this form will continue into the weekend,” he added.

Central Coast suffered a setback in the lead up to the Championships with work commitments preventing last year’s captain and NSW Country representative Shaun Eaton from making the trip.

The side will leave on Thursday afternoon with the Championships to commence on Friday. Central Coast will take on hosts, Western Zone in a day/night match at Wade Park. They will then take on Riverina on Saturday before clashing with last year’s runners up, ACT on Sunday.

The winner of the carnival will play Newcastle in the final on 11 December.

All the matches can be follows at the My Cricket App (Central Coast Cricket Zone) or at:

REPRESENTATIVE UPDATE (November 2022)

Central Coast Cricket Association’s Chairman, Garry Burkinshaw, has announced teams for two more of the Coast’s junior representative carnivals.

“With so many top quality junior cricketers keen to be recognised for their efforts, it’s always a tough decision when putting these squads together he said. “Playing
representative cricket for the Coast is always a special achievement, and we’re pleased to announce that this year’s squads, across all ages, could prove to be some of our strongest yet.”

Cricket is a hugely popular sport on the Coast, evidence by the more than 50 boys who attended the trial for the U11 Boys rep carnival team last week. Thirteen local players were successful in being selected for the squad, with almost all clubs represented, a great indication of the breadth of talent on the Coast, even in the youngest levels. This team will travel to Newcastle and compete in a 4 day rep carnival from 16 – 19 January 2023. Full team list attached.

The McDonalds Country Cricket NSW Bradman Cup Carnival team was also announced, with players selected to represent the Coast at Stage 1 of the Carnival, to be held in Kempsey on 3-4 December 2022. Stage 2 to be played from 3-6 January 2023 in Lake Macquarie. Full team list below.

In more rep news, players were also selected to represent the Central Coast at the U18 McDonalds Country Cricket NSW Colts Carnival, to be held next month in
Queanbeyan. Full team list below.

Results from the weekend (details on MyCricket or PlayHQ: https://www.playhq.com/.../central-coast-cricket.../58935943

Unfortunately, after some promising starts this weekend’s rep games on the Coast were abandoned due to thunderstorms.

Before the rain hit, our men's Central Coast Rush team bowled first with Robert Lavery taking 5 for 16 off four overs and Thomas Owen 2 for 1 off 0.3 overs, before again the rain forced play to be abandoned.

Our U17 Watson Shield team was well on the way to a potential big win… Jaylen Johnston finished 101 not out, Zakary Graham was also not out for 57.

Our U12 Foster Cup team managed some big runs from Max Melvin 46 off 74 and Xavier Saunders 15 off 36.

Individual achievements!
On Tuesday and Wednesday this week Bailey Lidgard (Kincumber Avoca Cricket Club) and Dan Thompson (Lisarow Ourimbah Cricket Club ) travelled to Blacktown International Sports park to compete in the Cricket NSW Under 19 Male State Challenge. We wish both players all the best for the upcoming NSW Country Under 19's selection to play in the National Championships.

Congratulations also to locals Tara French (Terrigal Matcham Cricket Club) and Molly Kidd (Lisarow Ourimbah Cricket Club), coached by Dane Stevenson (The Entrance Cricket Club), who were part of the Sydney North team in the Combined High Schools carnival last week. The team went on to win the tournament and was declared this year’s champions!
